She loved what she saw, and the two became partners in creating her wardrobe. They had a system. Mrs. Kennedy concocted lists of the outfits and material she desired, often inspired by French designers as well as fashion layouts in Harper's Bazaar. After the two conferred by phone, Cassini sent Mrs. Kennedy sketches and swatches to choose from, and she called in her responses to his secretary. She often ordered 10 or 11 outfits at a time, which he crafted in his New York salon, and then had dropped off at the White House.
